How does this pandemic end?

There is only a hand full of things that are guaranteed in life. A start of something, any Quentin Tarintino film being fantastic, and an end to something. Anything which starts always comes to an end. An example is in Dec 2012, theorized by some, to mark the end of the world. Some even went as far as stocking up on long-life food and hiding in a bunker — you know, like a can of beans and spam would help.

I’d say in the history of mankind, the decade starting from 2020 has probably been the strangest. As countries have entered a state of global panic, by stopping movement for a “pandemic” called Covid — I’ll explain later why pandemic is in quotation marks.

As countries began to force citizens to lockdown and stay at home, one by one, it marked a start, a start of something rather sinister and irreversible. On June 21st, 2021, the UK is expected to end its lockdown restrictions which have been one of the longest and most challenging in Europe and, dear, I say, the world. However, rumors (looking ever more likely) have been flying around stating that the government wants to delay this opening once again.

In conjunction with lockdown restrictions, there have been worldwide protests, human rights abuses left, right and centre, and the world’s first mass vaccination programme with an mRNA technology being proposed as our only way out of this problem. In this article, I pose the question.

How does this all end?

Disclaimer: These are all my views and are only to be taken as such. It is only a question I have asked myself countless times and pose theories as to what might happen or sadly already is happening backed by evidence in some cases.

The Two-Tier System

Perhaps the most evident scenario already playing out is the idea of us living in a two-tier system due to vaccination passports. The EU has already agreed to make Covid-19 vaccination passports for all EU citizens by July 1st this year. In essence, everyone will need a digital vaccination passport to prove they have been vaccinated and are safe to travel around countries. The UK initially had plans for this domestically, but the government scrapped it.

A two-tier system means separating citizens into two categories. In this case, it will be vaccinated and non-vaccinated. People will be seperated, regardless of their motives for refusing to take the vaccine. This sort of system has used throughout history to divide people be it in Nazi Germany for jews and non-jews, African human trafficking days for citizens and non-citizens, and currently in China with its social credit system.

If anyone thinks these can’t possibly happen to “us” (those in western countries), I challenge them to think again.

Ex UK prime minister Tony Blair stated recently, the need for a vaccination passport domestically and internationally to allow those with vaccines the freedom to travel and go to restaurants and places freely. Andrew Marr, a journalist, pushed back and stated this would create a two-tier system, whereby we divide citizens solely on their willingness to take the vaccines.

Governments big reset

Will protests lead to a change people so desperately crave?

If the last year 2020 and currently 2021 are anything to go by, people are fed up. Fed up of lies, fed up with their situation and fed up with their government, more importantly. People’s frustration pours out in the form of protests, and it doesn’t seem to end anytime soon.

If we pivot to the main question how this all ends? Well, one of them is by government policies changing, and for that to happen, unfortunately, there will be lives lost on the battleground of freedom. Nobody wants to see people die but, some want freedom so bad they are willing to pay the ultimate price and some already have. Take Myanmar, for example, a country in South Asia that has seen over 700 civilians killed by military forces due to protesting.

The catalyst has been lockdown restrictions, but it’s not solely freedom of movement people want. They are demanding a better future also. My prediction is the more restrictions put in place due to the “pandemic”, the more significant the pushback will be from people who suffer due to lockdown and not covid.

Why I’m not too fond of labels

Labels are everywhere. They are typically used to help us define something. One used to describe those who for whatever reason, refuse a novel technology vaccine is “anti-vaxxers”. The main reason labels aren’t always helpful is because they fail to address an individual’s concern but rather blanket label them into one group.

The term “pandemic” used to describe covid is a term I’m not too keen on saying. Firstly, it creates this sense of overreactive fear amongst people about covid. Now that the jury is out, we know covid is somewhat risky for a particular age group with specific pre-existing health problems. It isn’t a problem for most people, especially the young who probably won’t even know it’s there in the first place. Secondly, to call Covid-19 a pandemic is somewhat true for countries like the UK, which has had over 100,000 deaths but to then apply the same mind frame for say countries in Africa or Asia doesn’t fit. Vietnam for example has had around 50 or so deaths in total due to covid. Yes, about 50 deaths in total is not a typo.

About 60% of Africans are under the age of 25, and 50% are under 20, which is honestly mind-blowing. Knowing this information, it should then be no surprise why Covid isn’t an issue for them like say Malaria or Polio is.

Peter Sands, the executive director of the global fund to fight aids, malaria, and tuberculosis, mentioned in a meeting for presenting a WHO report.

“The media and global health world have been fixated on Covid-19 and pay little to no attention to a disease killing around 400,000 (malaria) people every year, mainly children. It is a disease we know how to get rid of- so it is a choice that we don’t.”

The Conditioning

Have we been conditioned to be comfortable with lockdowns and over-sharing data?

My short answer is yes. A UK survey finds, up to 80% of the population support national lockdowns. Because we’ve been in lockdown for so long, do we have some form of Stockholm syndrome? People sure don’t mind giving up their data to government powers through vaccination passports. About 6 out of 10, in the UK, to be precise. Maybe because we already do so when we sign up to use big-tech platforms. Who knows?

A human face conditioned

Perhaps soon, we’ll reach a point where we have been conditioned to such an extent that privacy is only a thing of the past, and we must do and say whatever the state wants or face ostracization. Maybe at some point, it will be easier to have an implanted chip to interact with the world rather than mobile vaccine passports.

This particular theory is seeping into the realm of conspiracy theories, and numerous people subscribe to this particular trail of thought. I personally don’t but to be fair, they got the first part right regarding a surveillance state, the micro-chip portion of the theory, though? Not so much yet. Although US Senators are about to pass a $50 billion microchip deal and well for China? As always they are two steps ahead, they have already pumped $150 billion into microchips. So only time will tell if these are theories or future ways of life.
